A spicy mix of 2D and 3D
I had the chance to work on a unique looking project at BUCK. The spot is a mix of in game footage and animated cel, but there were a few shots that had a really dynamic camera and so that's where 3D came in.
I was responsible for modeling a few characters to match a pose that was drawn by our 2D team. I took that styleframe and used a back and forth mix of ZBrush and Maya to get the pose as close as possible. Then I used Substance Painter to break out masks for the fill, lines and shadow of the characters so they could be comped in Nuke to look like cel.
