⚡️ My First Bit of Fan Art ⚡️
A little over a year ago I saw Fartbarf at The Hi Hat in Highland Park and I was completely taken by surprise. I didn't even know who they were. I'd gone to the show because my girlfriend wanted to see Slut Island, who were awesome, but when three dudes in neanderthal masks got on stage, they started blasting distorted bass into my bones and I was completely blown away. It was the best show I'd ever been to and that night I became a devout barfangelist.
Fartbarf is super crunchy distorted synthesized dance music that should be listened to with tons of room to jump around so you don't break all of the your shit. Discovering them brought me back to the first time I ever heard Justice, Crystal Castles and Franz Ferdinand. They make me want to dance until I'm super sweaty and a little bruised up. That's what happened when I saw them back in August in a wrestling ring at 1720. The crowd flooded into the ring and thankfully my girlfriend and I were able to hold on to the ropes because the floor was like a trampoline with 200 people jumping around on it.
I am seeing them for the 4th time tonight at The Hi Hat's 3rd Anniversary Show. To show my admiration I decided to 3D print and paint their iconic masks. The little head fits on a finger and has their logo embossed inside. It's the first thing I'd ever painted and it was really fun to make.
