Chicken Boy and Shark
March 31, 2017

Stef Kardos had a gallery show at Civil Coffee in Highland Park that was inspired by the vibrant northeast Los Angeles neighborhood. For part of the show, he wanted me to model and 3D print the characters from the handbill: The famous HLP landmark, Chicken Boy which is off of Figueroa and a curiously placed statue of a shark behind the gates of an auto shop on York.

The final model that you see walking around Highland Park was keyed and printed by George Helmick and painted by Jeff Shelly.

If you're curious, here is the story of LA's Statue of Liberty is a 22-Foot Man with a Chicken Head from Food 52. As for the shark, he is a little more obscure.
